Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we will be taking a look at the F/OSS version control system, Git, going over version control basics and some handy tips for common tasks. In addition to Git itself, we’ll also be touching on GUI front-ends and repository management suites like GitLab.
As always, everybody is welcome to come along and join the discussion. Hope to see you there!
As mentioned at the last Hobart meeting we will aim to have talks at Enterprize every second month and have the LUG at the pub the months in between. So this month is a pub month and someone in the chat channel suggested Tom McHugo’s, so that’s where we will try.
If you are planning to come along (even for a quick drink) please let John know by Wednesday so we can make the appropriate booking if needed.
Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we will be taking a look at the F/OSS vector illustration program Inkscape, discussing its major features and walking through the steps of creating a piece of vector art.
As always, everybody is welcome to come along and join the discussion. Hope to see you there!
Talks at Hobart TasLUG are back! At the meeting this month we will be having two short talks:
Talking about how he got a Raspberry Pi to talk to his solar PV inverter to monitory its electricity generation.
Talking about his participation in the TasNetwork emPOWERing You Trial.
By happy coincidence both of these talks about electricity related topics will be held at our new venue: Enterprize - which just happens to be located in the old Hydro Electrical Commission building.
Note: the doors inside the foyer will be locked, so you will need to use the intercom to let us know to buzz you in. However, if you arrive after 6:30pm, then we’ll leave a note with a phone number to call as the intercom isn’t near where the talks will be.
Enterprize provide a selection of alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks and coffee pods for the appropriate donation, as well as free instant coffee and tea. So come at 6:00pm, get a drink, and have a bit of a mingle before the talks start at 6:30pm. We will also be heading out to find somewhere to eat afterwards for those interested.
I would like to to extend a big thank you to Enterprize for generously allowing us to use their space to hold regular meetings into the future.
Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we will look the 2.10 release of the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). We’ll also be doing some live painting and image editing to show off GIMP’s new symmetry and non-destructive canvass rotation features.
As always, everybody is welcome to come along and join the discussion. Hope to see you there!
This month we will again be meeting up and the (now traditional) Hope and Anchor Tavern for a bite to eat and a chat about all things related to free and open source software, hardware and culture.
If you are planning to come along (even for a quick drink) please let John know by Tuesday so we can make the appropriate booking.
We hope to see a big turn out next Thursday.
Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we’ll be going through the steps of installing the Debian GNU/Linux operating system, and then take a look at its features and default software.
This meeting’s presentation may be focused toward newcomers, but as always, everybody is welcome to come along and join the discussion. Hope to see you there!
The third Thursday of the month is fast approaching which means it is time to meet up and chat about all things related to free and open source software, hardware, and culture.
This month we will be heading to previous TasLUG haunt… the Brunswick Hotel.
Please let John know if you are planning to come along, even if just for a quick drink. If we hear from more than a handful of people by Tuesday that they are coming then we’ll book a table.
It was great to see a good turnout last month, so we can repeat that this month.
Hi people! This month we are going to be looking at the major feature of gdb (Gnu DeBugger). From simple break points to compiling and injecting code during a debug session. If you are a beginner or an old hand there will be something for everyone in this talk.
As always, everybody is welcome to come along and join the discussion. Hope to see you there!
